She is the shield maiden
A lady fierce
Wild as the great southern wind
With a strength that has been built from her bones.
She is the warrior
Her power is echoed with each breath
And a beat that drums just for her.
Her skin is woven of hope
Strengthened in her fiery song.
Yes, she may be a maiden
But she carries with her the flag of all the battles lost
Of the ones who came before.
May we celebrate her victory
For she is the rainbow.
The sweetest skjoldmø.
You are music, poetry, thunder, invention, laughter, grace, and chaos.
Just like that
Gah! I just cannot say it enough.
Baby thighs are my weakness.
It’s in the way you move
There will always be space
between the very breath of your skin and theirs
that feels like an ocean.
And so you bring them closer.
And closer still.
And it is still never close enough.
I often wonder if the babies I photograph are truly aware of how much they are adored.
Not just aware of who loves them, but how they are loved.
It is such a privileged notion to know love in this way
and I am so lucky I get to share in this every day.
When you realise the weekend is coming to an end…
